Property Location: Iolani Estate is located in Upcountry Haiku, which sits on the north side of Maui, slightly up the side of Haleakala. Iolani is located near the entrance to Haiku, and sits outside the rain band. Haiku is a small rural village, with a town center (Post Office, gym, bakery, pizza shop, grocery store, doctor, pharmacy, video shop etc). Be sure to stop at the cannery on West Kuiaha, for breakfast at Pauwela Cafe (they also have a fabulous Kalua turkey sandwich for lunch). Haiku offers quick access to Makawao (approx. ten minutes by car), which has a variety of great shops and several good restaurants. Paia is ten minutes by car.
Beaches: Haiku is considered "Upcountry", and there are no beaches within walking distance. The North Shore beaches of Hookipa, Baldwin, Tavares, and Paia Bay are all a short drive (5 to 15 minutes). The swimming, snorkeling beaches of Kihei, Wailea and Makena are 30-45 minutes by car.

The STUDIO sits at the entrance to the property (above the garage), and is perfect for one or two guests, or when an additional bedroom is needed. The interior has lots of windows, facing the tropical landscaping of the yard, with peaks of the ocean in the distance. The walls are reed and plaster, with slate floors. The kitchen sits to the back of the cottage with fridge, toaster oven, cook top, and coffee maker etc. The tiled bathroom has shower/tub combo. The living area has TV/VCR, compact CD stereo and telephone with answering machine. The sleeping alcove has a queen bed. The studio enjoys a large private "sunning" patio, complete with gas grill, picnic table, and sun loungers.
